On March 17, 1917, Delta Phi Epsilon was founded by five
women at the New York University Law School. After a couple years the sorority went national, then it was founded as
an international sorority. On December 5, 1922, the first international chapter was established at McGill University,
Montreal, Canada. Recently, Delta Phi Epsilon was known to have 35,000 members. All sisters go by the motto, "Esse
Quam Videri" which means "To be rather than to seem to be." The founding sisters established Delta Phi Epsilon on a
dedication, pride, and excellence basis.
